Microblading, also known as cosmetic tattooing, permanent makeup, semi-permanent make-up, brow feathering, brow embroidery or microstroking, is a type of tattoo in which a manual tool is used to implant ink into the upper layers of the skin to give you flawless eyebrows for up to 12-18 months before needing a retouch. New advanced technology distinguishes microblading from older cosmetic tattooing techniques to mimic your natural hair and make your brow tattoo virtually undetectable. It is excellent for those wanting to enhance their natural brows or who have little to no brows, or thinning brows from age or over tweezed brows. 

Microblading/micropigmentation is a form of tattooing, so it is slightly uncomfortable at the beginning of the procedure. A lot of clients compare the sensation to the same feeling as eyebrow threading. However this only lasts roughly 15-20 minutes before a numbing gel is applied and you don’t feel anything for the rest of the appointment(some people even fall asleep!).

This depends on skin texture and type, age, lifestyle, sun exposure, exercise etc. 

The average time between appointments is roughly 12 months, however some clients return between 7-12 months to get colour boosts if they prefer it to be a darker makeup look. Oiler skin fades the pigment a lot faster than a more dry skin type, and sometimes 6 month touch ups are required in this case. Sun exposure, regular-heavy exercise, heavy makeup also all contribute to fading the tattoo faster. Each skin type holds microblading differently which is why it is important to have realistic expectations when it comes to the durability of your tattoo. 

Your first appointment with me includes your consultation, brow templating and procedure. This all up takes roughly 2.5-3 hours. Your 6-8 week touch up takes 1 hour. 

The average healing time is between 7-10 days. After your initial appointment, your new brows will appear very dark, and slightly red around the area. The redness will fade over the next few hours, and your brows will stay quite dark over the next 4-6 days. During these 4-6 days(average), they develop a crust to heal them underneath(this doesn’t look obvious, it just looks like you’ve filled your eyebrows in with makeup), and after roughly 6 days this will start to peel off revelling a much lighter tattoo underneath the crust that was sitting on top. It’s easy to become frustrated at this point because they lighten up to 40% after your first heal(7-10 days post your initial appointment) but they do darken up by themselves after 1-2 weeks after this phase. 

Day 1: Very dark and crisp, red around the area

Day 2-6: Very dark, crust starting to develop 

Day 7-10: Crust peels off revelling a much lighter tattoo colour underneath 

Day 11-30: Colour darkens up during the next month 

Day 30-60: Touch up (compulsory) to adjust colour and tone

Day 1: Wipe your brows once every hour until bedtime with a damp clean cloth, once over each brows to remove any residue. 

Day 2-10: No wiping. Apply a very thin layer of Vaseline over each brow only once every morning for the remainder of your healing. 

(If during your healing you think your brows look like they may be purging or slightly wet looking, dab them gently with a dry tissue to remove the surface residue)

On skin thinning medication such as roaccutane, blood pressure medication etc.
